The Pelicans Tried to Draw Carmelo Anthony Out of Retirement

The Pelicans tried to draw Carmelo Anthony out of retirement

After making the formal announcement of his retirement in May of 2022, Carmelo Anthony played his final professional game for the Los Angeles Lakers. On the other hand, it would appear that one organization and country have tried to convince the former Hall of Famer to come out of retirement.

When Anthony was asked which teams attempted to recruit him, he couldn’t help but laugh. This question was addressed in a sneak preview sample from his upcoming podcast, which he is producing in collaboration with the internet personality The Kid Mero.

Anthony smiled and responded, “China,” to the question.

In addition to that, he mentioned that the New Orleans Pelicans requested information regarding his availability. However, it appeared as though he was far from signing with New Orleans or with a team outside of the country.

“That jersey would have been that one,” she said. When asked about the possibility of signing with the Pelicans, Anthony responded, “Hide that, hide that.”

In the aftermath of the event, it seemed as though New Orleans did not accept Anthony’s airing out of their history.

Anthony, who is 39 years old, has been selected to the All-Star team ten times and is widely regarded as one of the greatest scorers in the history of basketball; yet, it appears that his playing days are long gone. During the 2021-22 season, Anthony played for the Lakers and averaged 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
