One of the most legendary icon in the NBA will be featured on the cover of the latest entry in the highly renowned NBA2K video game series.
The Lakers’ all-time great Kobe Bryant, who is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, has been chosen as the cover athlete for the upcoming video game NBA 2K24. This will be the fourth time that Bryant has appeared on the cover of an NBA video game. The very successful NBA 2K brand has reached its 24th installment with the release of NBA 2K24. This number, which also happens to be one of Kobe Bryant’s legendary jersey numbers, was worn by Bryant throughout his 20-year NBA career.
Bryant is featured on not one, but two different album covers in this year’s edition of the game. The “Kobe Bryant Edition” of the game depicts the five-time NBA champion donning his No. 8 uniform number, but the “Black Mamba Edition” of the game shows the 18-time All-Star during the latter years of his career.
The cover of NBA 2K10 was the first video game on which Bryant appeared. He was also featured as the special edition athlete cover on NBA2K17, in addition to a Mamba Forever Edition for NBA2K21 that remembered his life and legacy after he passed away in January 2020. Both of these editions were released to pay tribute to his life and career.
The first installment in the series of basketball video games was released in 1999 under the title NBA2K. The cover of the game featured future Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. After previously appearing on the covers of NBA 2K11, 2K12, and 2K16, Michael Jordan was featured as the cover athlete for the most recent installment of the NBA video game series, NBA 2K23.
Pre-orders for NBA 2K24 will start on Friday. An official release date for this year’s game has yet to be disclosed; however, NBA 2K24 can already be purchased in advance.
