The Lakers Win their First NBA In-Season Tournament Title

During the first-ever In-Season Tournament of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Los Angeles Lakers emerged victorious by defeating the Indiana Pacers by a score of 123-109 in Las Vegas on Saturday night. By utilizing their size and length, the Lakers were able to make the night challenging for Tyrese Haliburton, the standout player for the Pacers, and the rest of the Indiana team. Anthony Davis had a monster game for the Lakers. After James was awarded the Most Valuable Player title for the tournament, Commissioner Adam Silver made a joke about it by saying, “It doesn’t come with a franchise.”

James ended with 24 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Davis finished with 41 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, and five blocks. However, the statistics will not be counted toward the league’s regular season standings based on the 82 games played during the season.

After claiming the top seed in the tournament with a perfect record of 7-0, the Lakers dominated their way to the top spot by claiming victories over the Suns, Grizzlies, Trail Blazers, and Jazz in group play. They then went on to win the championship over the Pacers, the Pelicans, and the wild-card Suns. Along with the honor of hoisting the NBA Cup, every player for the Lakers will also receive a sum of $500,000.
