Klay Thompson, a top player for the Golden State Warriors, visited the Philippines in the previous month as part of a promotional tour for a well-known shoe brand he is endorsing.

Thompson and his teammate Kevon Looney participated in several meet-and-greet events and various media affairs. During an interview with Esquire Philippines, Thompson gave a brief interview in which he discussed his uncle Andy Thompson, who was an import player in the Philippine Basketball Association in the year 1986.

“Based on his personal experiences, my Uncle Andy assured me I would have a wonderful time in the Philippines. According to Thompson, “He loved the fans, and he loved playing in the Philippine Basketball Association, and he talks about it with so much joy.”

During the evening, the four-time winner wore a traditional Barong Tagalog, and he said to Suralta that donning it was “wonderful” and “looks even better.”

The 33-year-old guard, who finished the previous season with a scoring average of 21.9 points and a three-point shooting percentage of 41.2%, also highlighted the vast number of Warriors supporters that reside in the Philippines as well as the arrival of Chris Paul, a future Hall of Famer, to the Bay Area.

“He’s going to make me get a lot of easy looks,” the woman said. With his playmaking, he can open up an entirely new facet of our squad, particularly for Steph [Curry] and myself. “We can play off the ball and run around screens, and he is simply an elite-level competitor,” added Thompson.

The event was hosted in a Filipino restaurant in Quezon City, and in keeping with the theme, there was also a supper that was influenced by the local food. According to Suralta’s assessment, Thompson had a special fondness for a certain Filipino dish. It is not an adobo dish at all—also, sinigang.

Suralta wrote, “During dinner, Thompson adored the bistek, and he felt it was so nice that he ordered a plate twice.”
