Dillon Brooks 18th technical foul of season leads to suspension

Joe Dumars, the Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations for the Memphis Grizzlies, announced today that Memphis Grizzlies guard-forward Dillon Brooks had been suspended for one game without pay for receiving his 18th technical foul of the 2022-23 season. Brooks was arrested for the game because he received a technical foul.

After a player or coach accumulates 16 technical fouls throughout a regular season, the NBA rules provide that they are automatically banned without pay for one game. This suspension comes into effect immediately. For that particular regular season, the player or coach will be automatically suspended without pay for an extra game for every two technical fouls they incur.

On March 20, the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-108 at FedExForum. Brooks was given his most recent technical foul during the game with 7:26 left in the third quarter.

Brooks will serve the remainder of his ban on March 22 at FedExForum when the Grizzlies play home to the Houston Rockets.
